Splinter Cell: Blacklist is the sixth game in the Splinter Cell franchise. A series that began in 2002, Sam Fisher makes his return to become leader of the Fourth Echelon unit. This team receives orders from the Oval Office, and it is involved in anti-terrorist operations.

The advantage of this game is that you receive tons of customized options. Additionally, Spies vs. Mercenaries mode makes a comeback. Sam Fisher must travel the globe and fight a group of terrorists to end the large-scale attacks against American targets. People within the Fourth Echelon unit include: Isaac Briggs, Charlie Cole and Anna Grimdottir.

Headquarters on a Plane

The small team sets up their base inside the Paladin, a cargo plane with the latest technology to serve as a flying command center. From the Paladin, you have access to a map of the world, and it is where single player, multiplayer and co-op missions can be launched. Sam Fisher can wander the airplane to chat with colleagues and call his daughter after missions.

Campaign Mode

Campaign mode provides a longer game than previous installments with 13 single-player missions. You will be taken to environments including: Deep in the mountains of Iran, an abandoned factory in London and a private estate. In campaign mode, you can play the side missions and objectives to extend the play time. Some of the side missions have the option of being done in co-op with a friend.

Multiplayer Mode

In Splinter Cell: Blacklist, you can play co-op mode such as Spies vs. Mercenaries, which has a group of spies trying to hack computer stations while armed and dangerous mercenaries patrol and hunt them down. This mini game requires teamwork to achieve victory.

Play Styles: Guns Blazing or Shadow Assassin?

Blacklist lets you play in three styles. Those who want a ghost approach can avoid killing as much as possible while Panther mode is an assassin mode where you kill everyone and remain undetected. Assault style is where you take no prisoners and annihilate everyone in your path. Points will be awarded at the end of each level based on the play style you chose. The points will then be converted into money to upgrade Sam's equipment and the Paladin. You can use the money to upgrade equipment based on your style of play.

Why Play Splinter Cell: Blacklist?

The game was well designed in a way that provides maximum flexibility; it gives you access to an open world. You do not need to play in a specific way. For the most part, the AI of the enemies offers a consistent challenge, and their strategy changes occasionally to keep things fresh.

Playing with a friend helps you to build up your cash reserves for the main missions. Blacklist excelled with multiplayer mode and the three styles of gameplay. You want to play the online mode of Splinter Cell: Blacklist because that is where you can find the most entertaining action. The one area where this game lacked was in the simplistic scenario and storyline. The game might not be anything over-the-top, but it could keep you entertained for several hours. The average play time was 31.2 hours.
